‘Style is very personal.
It has nothing to do with fashion.
Fashion is over quickly.
Style is forever.’

I have a theory.
I wonder if introverts, with our preference for lower-stimulation activities and environments, and our tendency to wear less eye-catching outfits than our extraverted friends, are more drawn to style than fashion.
I wonder if we eschew the quick changes and the me-too-ness of fashion. If we prefer the simplicity, the minimalism, the ‘foreverness’ of style.
What do you think?
I think that’s 100% accurate. I HATE getting the “trendy” clothes, because they’ll just pass like seasons. Most of my friends, including myself, have a very unique style that’s completely their own. They don’t follow the “fashion trends,” and instead kind of create them. Black…lots of black with small accent colors lol. Black and blush are my faves! 🙂
Oh yes, Carly, I love black too! In fact black, navy, and white make up most of my 3-colour closet. So calm and simple and beautiful.
Yes, indeed. Banana Republic. Only the classics. And when I find something I like, I buy it in multiple colours and call it a day. Oh, and always ordered to the house; a crowded mall gives me a case of the hives.
I agree Erica – classics are best, and even better if crowds are avoided too. 🙂
Definitely agree with this and I believe it is why a minimalistic/capsule approach seems so much more appealing than trying to figure out what is trendy. While I follow one particular YouTuber who is into more of the fashion side of this conversation, I still like to hear about it from her perspective. We just each have our own ‘thing’ and that is more than okay!
I’m with you, Kelsey, it’s fun to follow all kinds of people, and lovely to work out what’s right for you. PS Re the capsule idea – you might also like this post: Introvert Style: My 3-Color Closet
When I’m drawn to fashion, it’s usually the very artistic, high end, expensive and unusual kind. I’m interested in the creativity though, and not dressing like everyone else.
Alicia it sounds like you would have a beautiful and interesting wardrobe!
Absolutely. I’ve never been a fashion slave.
🙂
I absolutely agree with you, especially on the idea that we use less colourful or eye-catching items because we don’t like to call for attention. I know some of my friends who are extroverts must think my wardrobe is a bit boring: just black, navy and a few accent colours. But I like dressing like that. I know the people that matter will see my personality and won’t care that much about my clothes, so maybe it is also useful to keep shallow people off the grid. :)) I’m new to the blog and loving it.
