‘To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.’
I think these wise words from Emerson are especially true for introverts.
We grow up seeing extraverts as the happy, successful people in our world – probably because happy, successful introverts are home being nerdy and avoiding media junkets. The extravert becomes our model of what happy and successful looks like.
We can feel pressured to be like that, even though it’s not who we are.
And as long as we cave to this pressure, we struggle to be happy.
It’s only when we realise that introverts are not inferior, introverts are simply different, that we can make peace with ourselves and embrace the pleasures and joys that come with our nature.
Knowing that you are an introvert, do you find it easier to be yourself? I’d love to hear your experience in the comments!
I’m content comfortable at home and at peace with myself ☺️ it’s not a big deal to be heckling with a bunch of people I don’t know.
